    Assistant Professor of Chemistry
    Position  Qualifications/ Responsibilities:
    A growing and progressive university in Georgia's public system of higher education, Kennesaw State University is seeking an energetic and experienced educator as an Assistant/Associate Professor of Chemistry Education in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, beginning August 2008.  Located on an attractive campus in suburban NW metropolitan Atlanta, Kennesaw State University enrolls approximately 20,000 baccalaureate, master's and doctoral students.  The department employs 21 full-time faculty, 11 part-time instructors, and an administrative staff that serve over 600 majors.  It currently offers ACS accredited B.S. degrees in Chemistry and Biochemistry, as well as specialty tracks in forensics and chemistry education.  The department provides extensive internship and research opportunities for students in its degree programs.  Teacher preparation is a strategic focus of the department, college and university.  KSU has been and continues to be one of the top producers of K-12 teachers in Georgia, and currently employs two full-time, tenure-track chemistry educators in the department and an additional five faculty between biology and physics education.  The college has recently launched a Master's of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Science, with specialties in biology, chemistry and physics, and will enroll its first cohort in the summer of 2008.

    This position requires a Ph.D. in Chemistry/Chemistry Education, Science Education, or a closely related field (with at least 18 graduate hours in chemistry) and at least 3 years of secondary teaching experience.  Teaching assignments will include introductory chemistry lectures and laboratories, science methods courses, field supervision, and upper level/graduate courses in the candidate's area of specialization.  The successful tenure-track applicants will be expected to develop excellence in teaching and in scholarship involving undergraduates, and to contribute to the quality and growth of the undergraduate and graduate chemistry education programs.  Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in developing and delivering online course content.
