ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF
SECONDARY SCIENCE EDUCATION - TENURE STREAM
The University of Pittsburgh at
Johnstown (Pitt-Johnstown) invites applications for a tenure-stream position at
the rank of assistant professor in the Division of Education beginning September
2010.
Responsibilities:
Teaching secondary science methods and upper elementary science methods
and field practicum courses, in addition to teaching integrated science
courses for elementary education, and other education courses as needed;
coordinating four Secondary Science Education programs for PA teaching
certification; supervising Secondary Science Education student teachers;
advising all Secondary Science Education students; and engaging in
professional development and university service activities.
Requirements:
Doctorate in Science Education, or a related field with a specialty in science
education, by August 2010; a strong background in an area of science; knowledge
of recent trends in science education; and a minimum of three years successful
teaching experience at the secondary level. Successful teaching and or
supervision experience at the college level is desirable. The candidate must
also demonstrate the potential to engage in professional development and
publication with some history of publication desirable.

Pitt-Johnstown is a
comprehensive four-year undergraduate campus of the University of Pittsburgh
