The University of Pittsburgh at
Johnstown,
a four-year regional college anticipates the need for a tenure stream Assistant
Professor of Teacher Education with an emphasis on Elementary Science to
begin in late August 2010.
Responsibilities include teaching science methods and field practicum courses,
other courses as needed; supervising Early Childhood and/or Middle-Level
Education student teachers; directing field placements; advising Early Childhood
and/or Middle-Level Education students; and engaging in professional development
and university service activities.
Requirements include a doctorate in Early Childhood, Middle Level, or Elementary
Education or a related field with a strong background in science education; a
minimum of three years experience teaching at the Pre-K-8 level; five years of
successful college teaching and/or supervision of student teachers; and two
years of experience directing field placements. The candidate must also
demonstrate the potential to engage in professional development and publication
with some history of publication essential.
