Bio/Personal Statement
Dennis W. Sunal received a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. He currently is Professor Emeritus with the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. His university teaching experiences include undergraduate and graduate courses in science education, curriculum and instruction, physics, and engineering. He holds both secondary (6th -12th) and elementary (K-6th) teacher certification and has taught at both levels. His research interests include pedagogical content knowledge of science teachers and faculty, physics teacher education, and science teacher induction. He has been project director and co-director on numerous grants (e.g. NSF, NASA, Department of Education, USIA, and U.S. Department of Energy). In addition, Dr. Sunal has published numerous articles and chapters in refereed journals and authored and edited numerous books. He is also Co-editor of the Research in Science Education (RISE) book series published by Information Age.
