Stop Creating Lesson Plans; Start Creating Learning Experiences

• This workshop will give teachers the tools and strategies needed to create authentic learning experiences that engage their students to think and act like scientists.
• This session is for any K-12 educator and administrator who wants to create engaging and authentic learning experiences for their students.
• Terra has been a Keynote and presented regular sessions at conferences such as:
Staff Development for Educators (SDE), National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), NSTA, K-12 Innovation Forum-San Antonio and more. She has 16 years experience in educational publishing and services, 10 years professional speaking in education and
5 years of blogging.
• Learning objectives include: Learn VAEI’s instructional model to transform any lesson into an authentic learning experience, select and personalize projects to address your learning targets and discover strategies to promote a classroom culture that supports creative and critical thinking.
• This session is full of practical instructional strategies to meet the learning objectives. Most strategies are demonstrated in the session so teachers feel comfortable bringing the back to the classroom. Some strategies include: Analogy a Day, Puzzle Piece Connection, Give One/Get One, Sticky Note Surprise, Jigsaw, Gallery Walk, and Four Corners. Each of these require little extra class time and facilitate specific learning objectives.
• Terra will offer her email at the end of the session and encourage all participants to contact her with questions, thoughts, or to share how they’ve implemented the ideas we discussed. I am also active on Twitter and can offer support there.
